What is a Submarine?
A submarine submerged in water
A submarine is like a boat but not really a boat. It is designed to float on water but also be able to travel underwater, so it is better than a boat in a way. Luckily submarines are sealed up, so the passengers don't get soaked in water! Submarines move underwater because they are built with compartments, which are sealed and open up to fill with water. The water weighs the submarine down so it sinks underwater. To come up to the surface the crew releases the water in the compartments so the submarine is lighter and floats!
Without submarines scientists, militarilies and researchers would have a harder job.Scientists often use submarines . Militaries are aided by submarines because they allow the troops to approach their goal in silence. Researchers use submarines to study marine life which on land they could never see!
